About
Few things say ‘seaside holiday’ quite like a stroll along the pier, and Llandudno Pier is a real gem!
A little bit about the history of Llandudno Pier
With its Grade II Listed status, it’s a traditional seaside pier dating from the late 1800s with an array of shops, cafes, bars and attractions - offering fun for all the family!
Stretching 2,295 feet (700m) over the sea, Llandudno Pier is the longest in Wales, and one of the UK’s finest, and was voted "Pier of the Year 2005" by the members of the National Piers Society.
This outstanding iron pier was built in two phases - the straight section (from the gate near Happy Valley) was opened to the public on 1 August 1877. The spur, which now gives Llandudno Pier its main entrance from the promenade was added in 1884.
Things to do on Llandudno Pier
In addition to the shops, selling goods ranging from buckets and spades, candles and retro memorabilia to fantastic photography of Llandudno Pier and Llandudno, there are two amusement arcades. Leisure Island situated at the promenade end of the Pier is open all year round (except Christmas Day). At the end of the pier, the Deck Arcade is a ‘Penny Arcade’ which still has the old games and slot machines providing entertainment for all age groups.
There are also funfair rides and a slide that younger children will love - these are located about halfway down the pier.
At the pier head there’s a bar where you can enjoy a drink, and a separate café for a tasty meal, an ice cream or a tempting afternoon cake. If you fancy catching your own supper there’s a fishing platform.
It’s no wonder that Llandudno Pier continues to be one of Llandudno’s prime attractions.
