About

The Conwy Valley line is part of the National Rail Network. Its route follows one of the largest rivers in Wales, the River Conwy, then runs along the wild banks of the River Lledr, which merges with the River Conwy at Betws-y-Coed.

From your journey’s seaside beginning in Llandudno, right up to the deep valleys of Blaenau Ffestiniog, you'll find a tremendous variety of scenery passing before your eyes; from the historic Conwy castle, through a wildlife-rich estuary, to gentle slopes that give way to magnificent rock formations as the train crosses the River Lledr at the impressive Pont Gethin Railway Viaduct.

You will get a glimpse of otherworldly fairy-tale landscapes; the magnificent 12th Century Dolwyddelan castle, ancient roads and quarries, and the forests and high peaks of Snowdonia, before plunging into the mountain and emerging minutes later in the industrial and historic landscape of Blaenau Ffestiniog, at the very heart of the mining and Welsh slate quarrying industries.

At 27 miles, the Conwy Valley Railway line certainly offers one of the most beautiful and scenic railway experiences in Britain.
