Keen to boost your step count? Put your best foot forward on Conwy County’s superb coastal and country footpaths, or practise your golf swing on our glorious greens.
Simple, free and fun, walking is one of the easiest ways to increase your cardiac and muscular fitness. You don’t need any special gear – just a decent pair of shoes, some determination and a pinch of inspiration. To burn off those Christmas calories, it’s best to set a steady but brisk pace. If you’ve just enough breath to chat, but not enough to sing (however much you’d like to), you’re on the right track.
If, like many of us, you’ve made a New Year resolution to walk more, where will your feet take you?
The Wales Coast Path and Great Orme Country Park are great places to stretch your legs while filling your lungs with rejuvenating sea air. Then there’s Mynydd y Dref (Conwy Mountain), where you can stride through history, weaving past Iron Age hillforts. Around Betws-y-Coed, there’s beautiful Snowdonia countryside to explore. The region’s peaceful, tree-lined paths and waterfalls are sure to enhance your wellbeing.
To exercise your shoulders, arms, core and heart, a round of golf can work wonders – and a little healthy competition can be a marvellous motivator. Conwy’s golf courses will lift your spirits and raise your game. Backed by hills and mountains or sea, they all have one thing in common: life-affirming views.
Where to stay
Conwy County has country guesthouses and coastal hotels with footpaths and golf courses right on the doorstep. Alternatively, for space to stretch out and call your own for a few days, book yourself a cosy self-catering cottage or apartment.
Where to eat and drink
When you’re ready to refuel on hearty, healthy fare, you’ll find plenty of choice in our farm shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Local delicacies to look out for include ewe’s milk cheese from Eryri, artisan bread from Llanrwst, mussels from Conwy and fresh fish from Liverpool Bay.
