For those people who find their family roots take them back to the Conwy area, the Archive Service at Conwy Culture Centre is full of resources and expert staff who can help you find out much more about who your ancestors were, their lives and where they lived. The original records held by the Archive Service date back to 1331 and includes records of churches, schools and businesses as well as many maps, plans and photographs. Access to the records and to advice from staff at the archive is free, as is access to family history databases such as Ancestry and Find my Past.
The Archive Service can be found at Conwy Culture Centre in Conwy Town by the ancient Town Walls. As well as the Archives, the Culture Centre is home to a family friendly library, interactive museum displays and a café. And once you have found where your ancestors lived within Conwy, why not get some directions and take a walk in the footsteps of your ancestors, discovering the towns and villages that your ancestors were from, their familiar streets, the fields they farmed, perhaps the houses they lived in.
Why not combine family history research with other activities you had planned for your visit. That walk in stunning Conwy countryside could be enhanced by the knowledge that your ancestors were from the very land you are walking on. Or a visit to one of Conwy’s many tourist attractions combined with a detour to check out the house your great great grandparents once lived in.
