About

Two trails around Llyn Brenig which take the walker past some of the most interesting aspects of this ancient landscape. This route to the north-east of Llyn Brenig is about 2 miles long. The route starts by following the short trail, then turns south from the Hafotai to the Platform Cairn, heading on to the Bronze Age Cairn. As the route makes its way to the Bronze Age cairn, it crosses a number of low banks and ditches that de-marked Medieval fields. Two further Bronze Age cairns can be seen along the path to Hafotty Sion Llwyd - an agricultural summer dwelling which was rebuilt in 1881 using ancient stones from the hillside. This was the home of the Pierce family for more than a century and there are many traditional stories of fairy gold and music. Parking and facilities...Read More
