And they’re not just for summer, in fact, many of our visitors prefer a bracing stroll on the beach in spring, autumn and even winter, when that salty tang really revives the spirits.

Walking tall

Threading its way along the entire coast, the 870-mile Wales Coast Path is the first of its kind anywhere in the World. It opened in 2012 to rave reviews. Almost 35 miles lies within our coastline. To get the most out of it see the coastal walking information.

Paws for thought

Dogs are welcome on several of our beaches. Sections of certain beaches have Dog Exclusion Zones between 1 May and 30 September to manage their use and keep them clean and safe. For the latest information see our Corporate Website.

Conwy Morfa Beach is dog friendly all year round.

Safety on the beach

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has been a world-leading emergency service for nearly 200 years. There are stations at Conwy and Llandudno, which are well worth a visit for information about the essential and life-saving work that they do – all from charity donations and volunteer service.

Here are some beach safety tips from the experts!

Check the tide times before you set off – tides can come in surprisingly quickly!
Be prepared – bring food and drink, also sunscreen or weather / sport suitable clothing
Take away your litter – it can cause pain or death to local wildlif
Enjoy the wildlife – but look, don’t touch
Know your limits – waves can be powerful and currents can be strong.
Ask an expert – if you are trying a new sport, a qualified guide can show you how to use the kit and equipment
If you are in the water, have someone keep an eye on you from the shore
Call for help – dial 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard if you see anyone in trouble
