What is STEAM?
STEAM is a tourism economic modelling tool that most Tourism Destination areas in the UK use. It provides a Destination with annual tourism data on areas such as visitor numbers, spend, overnight stays, numbers employed in tourism sector and importantly the economic impact of tourism to a Destination.
The STEAM process is essentially a structured framework with the capacity to accept a wide range of tourism input data, this data comes from a number of sources including local tourism businesses such as attractions and accommodation providers. It also captures major events which attract visitors, and national and regional data
Why is STEAM data important?
Collecting up to date tourism data is very important for Conwy, as it is used to attract and inform investors both in retail and tourism. This information demonstrates how buoyant our county is, and leads to new funding, investment and new businesses into the area, which benefits us all.
How can you get involved?
We need more Conwy tourism businesses to partake!
The information we need from you is quite basic, simply focused upon visitor numbers each month. We are looking for attraction businesses, accommodation providers, caravan park/site owners and campsites to take part. We recognise that it might take some of you a while to provide the information we require, so there are no tight deadlines to work to, we look to capture 2019 tourism data between the months of January 2020 and August 2020
