About

Situated close to the beach in Abergele, Pentre Mawr Park is a sizeable urban park in a largely residential area. Pentre Mawr Park used to be part of the Jones family estate who through marriage became the Jones-Bateman family living at Pentre Mawr for over 300 years. The grounds were acquired by the Local Authority in 1938.

The park is a great place to be on its own or tied in with a visit to Pensarn Beach. Pentre Mawr has a number of art sculptures installed by the Local Authority as well as a quiet walled garden and biodiversity area with ponds, meadows and wooded areas. The park is home to 3 locally scarce plant species and large mature wych elm trees which are uncommon. Pentre Mawr also hosts Eisteddfod ceremonies showing that the park has truly embraced the principle of ‘something for everyone’.

Pentre Mawr is easy to access by bicycle or foot from the coastal route. Access in the park is easy with the perimeter path.
